The Biz.

Booking

Crowe books appointments 10 hours per weekend day and 6 hours on weekdays. We are open 7 days per week, starting at 4pm on weekdays and 7am on Sat & Sun.

You will likely not be required to participate in the full 6 or 10 hour booking day. Most days we will be editing, mixing, or mastering at the end of your session, which can consume 1-3 hours of work. You are welcome to remain in the studio during this time, and participate in the process, but it will most likely not be required.

We will only book partial days on an hourly booking, less than 10 hours, on weekdays.

For projects, non-hourly work, your booking will be made for the entire day which includes full load-in and out. We are not insured for equipment that does not belong to Crowe Sound Lab so everything must be removed at the end of a booking day.

Pricing

Crowe Sound Labs works on a per-project basis. We do not apply a “standard hourly rate” unless you require less than 10 hours of time. This way you know the cost up-front.

Hourly Rate: $20/hr. (single day booking less than 10 hours), with a 4-hour minimum.

Discount for Projects:

10% off a 40+ hour project

15% off a 80+ hour project

Project Estimates

Music recording and production is a fluid process. So it is difficult to estimate the exact cost of your project. When studios do this, and strictly adhere to an hourly limit, the quality will suffer in order for them to not exceed their estimated cost. Your product will either cost a lot more for top quality, or you will be left to compromise the project.

Crowe will commit to an estimate for your entire project, no matter how large, and will only require additional cost if changes occur that were not originally outlined. If we consume more hours than estimated, your cost will not increase.

For projects, the estimation process requires an outline of the songs, instruments, and tracks, so Crowe can be as accurate as possible with your estimate. This session is free of charge, usually takes around 2 hours depending on the volume of songs included, and will be conducted prior to booking any days.

Project Outline

On your first booked day, you will receive an outline of what is expected to occur through the recording and/or mixing process. This is an expanded version of the estimate that will ensure we can track our progress and what remains to be completed.

Project Report
Project progress, including project changes, will be reported by email following each booking day so you know exactly how you are trending relative to the estimated cost of the project.

Payment

When booking studio time, a deposit will be required to secure your date. Failure to show-up for your booking without 48hr notice will result in loss of deposit for that day.

Hourly Booking: $80 deposit. The remaining balance, if it exceeds 4 hours, will be paid prior to receiving your product.

Project Booking: $100 deposit is required for each day booked. The remaining balance for the day will be paid at the end of each booked day.

We accept credit cards if paid through Apple Pay or any other service that does not charge fees, but we generally only accept cash. No checks.

Contract

We do not require any legal contract or agreement, just that you accept the terms of our engagement. Anyone entering the Sound Lab will sign-in and verify they agree to the acceptable use policy of the studio, which includes all of the terms outlined here.
